A National Roofing Show Came to Hilliard. Here’s What They Found.

Dmitry Lipinskiy of Roofing Insights sits down with Andrew and Kendall at the RoofNut office, September 9, 2026.

Most weeks are inspections, tear-offs, and phone calls. Then there's the week a camera crew from one of the best-known channels in roofing walks through our front door.

On September 9–10, 2026, Dmitry Lipinskiy, founder and host of Roofing Insights, came to Hilliard to visit RoofNut. He toured the office, met the team, stopped by a job site, and sat down with our owner, Andrew, and Kendall, our second in command, for a full-length podcast conversation. Roofing Insights published two episodes about us in September. We're proud of both, and we wanted to share them with the neighbors who made any of this possible.

Who Is Roofing Insights?

Dmitry started Roofing Insights in 2017 to bring honesty and transparency to the roofing industry. The show reviews products, digs into industry news, and helps homeowners avoid scams and hire with confidence. It's a national channel that spends a lot of time pointing out what's wrong in our industry, so having it come to Hilliard to talk about what we're doing right was a big moment for a hometown crew.

How We Found Roofing Insights

The connection goes back years. Andrew has been in the Columbus roofing industry since 2013. On the podcast, he says he found Roofing Insights by scrolling YouTube, "looking to educate myself in the roofing industry."

Those videos became part of how RoofNut was built. When Kendall started in January 2021, Andrew gave him his own desk, and on day one he pointed him to Dmitry's channel: "If you want to figure out how I want this company to grow and how I want to do business, watch these videos." Andrew admits on the show, "I'm pretty sure it was mandatory learning."

The videos shaped real decisions, too. On the podcast the team explains that, following Dmitry's advice, they narrowed down to what they do (roofing, siding, and gutters) and focused on one area, Northwest Columbus. "So we call it 15 mile famous," they say. Staying close means repeat work in the same neighborhoods, more referrals, and a crew that's 15 or 20 minutes away when you need us.

The $40,000 Equipter Giveaway Story

Dmitry asked about this one, and it's a good one. At one of his conferences, Roofing Insights gave away two Equipters. If you haven't seen one, an Equipter is the machine we use to haul debris off the roof and keep it out of your yard. Andrew was there and had wanted one for about five years. He didn't win.

On his way out, he stopped to congratulate the winner. The winner said he had started his company just three months earlier, and he told Andrew he didn't even know what an Equipter was. So Andrew offered to buy it on the spot. They agreed on $20,000, and about 15 minutes later the winner texted him: "Let's do this deal." Kendall says this was December 2020, and the machine was sitting in a storage unit in Florida, waiting to be picked up.

The best part is that it's still in use. In the team's words: "Still using it on every single roof."

Episode 1: A Look Inside RoofNut

“RoofNut Might Be the Craziest Roofing Brand in America” (Roofing Insights, published Sept. 20, 2026, about 15 minutes)

The site-visit episode: the rebrand story, meeting Kendall and the team, a look inside the office, a job-site stop, advice for homeowners, and, of course, “Call the Nut.”

Episode 2: The Full Podcast Conversation

“They Named Their Roofing Company RoofNut… And It Actually Worked” (Roofing Insights, published Sept. 27, 2026, about 50 minutes)

In the longer sit-down, Dmitry talks with Andrew and Kendall about how Andrew got into roofing, how the company grew into AC Roofing & Siding and then RoofNut, and why we rebranded. They also cover building a fun company culture, growing without taking on debt, and how we reintroduced ourselves to past customers after the name change. Kendall shares how he greets homeowners at an inspection: “I’m not here to sell you a roof. I’m here to make you a roof nut.”

The People Behind the Name

The name gets the attention, but the episodes really show the people.

Kendall is second in command to Andrew and runs the office and sales. He’s often the first person you’ll meet at an inspection. Ryan, our Production Manager, coordinates crews, materials, and timelines so every job runs smoothly from tear-off to final cleanup.

Same Local Crew, Same Standards

A national show doesn’t change the day-to-day. As the team put it on the podcast, Columbus “is where our families are.” We’re proud members of the Hilliard Area Chamber of Commerce, and we serve Dublin, Hilliard, and the rest of Northwest Columbus.

We do what we say we’ll do. We communicate clearly. And we give you an honest answer about whether your roof needs a repair or a full replacement.

If you’ve worked with us before, thank you. You’re a big reason this show found its way to Hilliard.

See more behind-the-scenes on our Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/roofnutcolumbus) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/roofnutohio/).

Want to Meet the Crew in Person?

If something on your roof, siding, or gutters has been bugging you, we’d love to take a look. We’ll schedule a free inspection, walk you through what we find, and give you a straight answer. No pressure.
